#akmediaonline: Us Open 2018 “Novak Djokovic Ends Giant-Killer John Millman’s Run”


Jon Millman who recently chase Roger Federer out of the on going US Open has also been shown the door by Novak Djokovic in 6-3, 6-4, 6-4 three set victory, the tie which lasted for close to three hours which indeed tells another storey.

Despite the sapping conditions in the New York, Djokovic broke early in the opener but quite get the double break required to move through the gears, almost every point was hard fought and the man who had vanquished Roger Federer in the last round was in a mood to prove the biggestt upset of his career was not a fluke.

The Serbian Millman managed to hold on to clinch the first set but the second saw the unseeded Millman hold firm till the ninth game, the former World No.1 however has only lost just one game after winning the first set in his career.

Arguably, Djokovic who happen to be the best hard-court player of his generation broke early and consolidated his but Millman showed great tenacity to break his opponent for the first time to actually take the lead. Though the Serbian managed to get a break back and this time he didn’t give the Australian any chance to claw his way back.

Djokovic’s counter attacking play is second to none, but here the Serb was just playing percentage tennis and doing his best not to gift his underhanded adversary any cheap point and as the third set progressed Millman managed to get a break back and this time around he didn’t give the Australian chance to claw his way back.

The other semi-final is between Juan Martin del Potro and World No.1 Rafeal Nadal, fans are hoping for a Nadal-Djokovic final come Sunday though anything can still happen.
